The most distinguishing feature about Qadir is his height. He is an incredibly short man and there is no way to hide it. He has a similar stature to a teenage boy, though is features make clear his age. He hasn't exactly aged well and bears more wrinkles than his contemporaries due to his time spent in the sun. His generous beard also marks him as clearly not a boy. Another notable feature is covered by long sleeves most of the time: a plethora of small scars on the back and front of his forearms. They are clearly too organized to be from battle so it begs the question how he got them. Some are quite old and others less so and it's not uncommon to see minor bloodstains on his cuffs.
For the most part he is a very friendly and kind man. He loves to share a drink and listen to stories, preferring the company of anyone over being alone. He also prefers to never discusses his past, favoring topics like religion, alcohol, horses, or current events. The topic of alcohol is particularly interesting to him as the owner and brewer at his shop, "Qadir's Araks and Beers". He is often glad to exchange a drink for a well told story at his shop.
He is quite devoted to the Qabal and it shows with his monthly tithes and regular contributions when he can provide them. While he is no master, nor even close to becoming one, he has his specific talents and abilities and does what he can to support those that trained him. Since most of his teachers were Progressivists he tends that way, but to him it is far more important to promote the Qabal than any faction within it.
Great Race
In the year 1176 Qadir participated for the first time in the Great Race after a few years of preparation and practice. Using his abilities with the seal, and with the help of his faithful and talented horse Malakeh, he was able to secure a third place finish during his rookie run. In the course of the race he outran (barely) a roc and survived a straight shot across the Anvil, earning a bit of reputation for those heroic feats in the process.
During the race he became friends with Malik al-Rashid, bonding over their shared lost loves, though they have opted to keep their relationship somewhat low key while they work together to recover Malik's significant other. They still visit with each other on occasion, though such meetings are kept clandestine with the hope that using Qadir's talents will keep Malik's enemies unaware of all the resources at his disposal.
Qadir also spent time with his Qabal allies after the race, researching and studying a new method of manipulating the seal. It was hoped that the new spell would help him improve his ability to survive within the harsh sands, but also help to bolster the warriors and guards employed by and allied with the Qabal. The successful unlocking of the new spell was something of a personal victory for Qadir and made him feel worthy of the name he was given.
